The wall panelling may be used in habitable rooms, being designed first of all for covering interior walls, but ceilings can also be lined, bearing in mind, however, that
the wall panels are not suitable for rooms where the relative humidity exceeds 70%, including bathrooms, toilets, saunas, laundry rooms, etc.
IMPORTANT RULES
- Prior to laying each wall panel should be carefully checked for mechanical damage and colour differences. Should panels with defects be laid, the rights of warranty will be denied. The panels with defect found prior to fixing are subject to replacement with defect-free panels at your dealer.
- The panels must not be fixed directly to a supporting structure by means of nails or screws as they must have expansion and shrinking possibilities. They are to be fixed only with special clamps.
- Expansion gaps of 10 - 15 mm should be maintained between panels and ceiling, floor or adjoining wall to allow for expansion or contraction due to changes in temperature and humidity
TOOLS AND MATERIALS
- wooden slats for fixing the panels,
- fixing clamps,
- nails or staples to fix the clamps,
- mouldings,
- screws with wallplugs/anchors of 6-8 mm in diameter,
- a folding rule,
- a set-square,
- a hand saw,
- a hammer,
- a drill,
- a screwdriver,
- a plumb line or a spirit level
PREPARATION PROCEDURE
1. Prior to fixing, the wall panels should be stored for at least 48 hours in the room where they are to be laid. Recommended conditions:
- temperatura 18-22oC
- relative humidity up to 70%
2. The surface to be covered with the wall panels should be dry and straight. A skeleton is made of dry wooden slats to form a structure for fastening the panels. Slats with a width of 4 cm and a thickness of 2 cm should be fixed to the wall with screws and wallplugs perpendicularly to the panel axis. Slat spacing should be maximum 50 cm In the case of fixing the panels on ceiling or skew walls, the spacing should be maximum 30 cm. Holes for electrical switches and socket-contacts should be encased with slats.
INSTALLATION
- Panels should be successively cut to length, bearing in mind the expansion gap. The first panel should be set up vertically with its tongue towards the wall and fixed for good to the slats with nails.
- The fixing clamps should be inserted into the milled groove at the other edge of the panel and nailed or stapled to the slats. Cut to length panels should be successively fixed inserting their tongues into the grooves of the already fixed panel.
- The last panel should be accurately fit to the wall, bearing in mind the expansion gap.
- Finishing slats should be used to cover the joints and expansion gaps.
FINAL REMARKS
1. The wall panels are hygienic and easy to clean. Impurities should be removed with a damp cloth. In no case the panels should be wiped with wet cloth or sprinkled with water. Concentrated detergents used in households must not be applied to wash the panels.
2. The panels must not be exposed to elevated temperatures (maximum 60oC). Do not fix the panels near heaters and other heat sources!
